The gravel rocks crackle beneath my sneakers as I run the trail surrounding the estate.

Pushing myself even harder, I nearly sprint down the trail. Sweat beads at my temples and drips down my back, saturating my shirt. Reaching the clearing at full speed, I’m caught off guard when the phone in my arm band buzzes, cutting off the music playing in my headphones.

Slowing slightly, I continue toward the front of the estate and stand at the base of the steps for a moment to catch my breath.

Pulling out the phone, I swipe it to see an incoming text from Edmund.
